Proposed state budget cuts would impact faculty most

University officials are predicting that faculty will feel the effects the most of state budget cuts. A budget proposal from Gov. Pat Quinn will be reviewed by the Senate on March 21.

Illinois even worse than California, says Institute of Government and Public Affairs


The University’s Institute of Government and Public Affairs conducted a study that compared California and Illinois, proving that California has the 49th worst fiscal problem in the nation while Illinois ranks 50th. 

University police partner with Assembly Hall to secure classrooms for Unofficial

Assembly Hall security will be contracted to University police to monitor high capacity lecture halls on Unofficial St. Patrick’s Day. Disruptive students can expect bag and 
identification checks, and beverage containers will not be allowed.

House alcohol amnesty bill mirrors University policy


While the University already has an unwritten policy exempting intoxicated minors from being prosecuted for receiving medical assistance, this could soon become a state law. The Illinois House judiciary committee is reviewing a bill on the subject, sponsored by a Champaign state legislator, on Wednesday.
